EIS welcomes in school discipline

The Educational Institute of Scotland, the oldest teaching union in the world founded in 1847, has received as good news the publication of the “Behavior in Scottish Schools 2009” report by the Scottish Government. The report, based on research by Professor Pamela Munn and a team of researchers at the University of Edinburgh, identifies overall improvements in pupil discipline across Scotland. The General Secretary of the EIS, Ronnie Smith said:”The EIS welcomes today’s report, which is based on substantial research on discipline in Scottish schools.

The improvement in discipline identified in the report is partly a result of the high priority given to tackling this issue by a succession of Scottish Education Ministers.”
