Common sense rather than political ideology

Responding to the Conservatives’ education plans, Dr Mary Bousted, a general secretary of ATL (Association of Teachers and Lecturers) said: “We need common sense to prevail, rather than political ideology…The Conservatives’ plans for boosting the qualifications of those going into teaching are a solution looking for a problem…but politicians would be foolish to ignore the other qualities which are vital to make a good teacher – the ability to communicate, to inspire and enthuse young people, a good imagination, empathy and patience.
