Fire authority won’t meet until strike starts

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) is upset over a South Yorkshire fire authority decision not to meet to consider a new union proposal until after the next set of strikes starts. The proposal was given to the fire authority on 19th January. FBU’s regional secretary, Ian Murray, has commented: “The fire authority can meet at any time to consider our proposals but they are choosing to do so after the dispute has started”. The FBU proposed that shift duration and related issues be referred to the National Joint Council Joint Secretaries.
