‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and more

This Friday, 24 September, Hands Off Venezuela will be screening two short films in wake of the elections in Venezuela on 26 September, 2010.

The films to be shown are: ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ illustrating the media’s image manipulation of Hugo Chavez and ‘Call For Solidarity,’ where Venezuelan people express the need for international solidarity within their revolution.

The event is part of ‘Movimientos’ at Passing Clouds and  following the films will be ‘Haga que pase’: ‘Make it happen!’ a collection of short documentaries, music videos and images about the Afro-descendant communities of Villa Rica, Colombia.

Discussions to follow, along with live performances by Jota Ramos, a powerful rapper from the Saporte Klan, Jardares Por Fuera and more. Located at 1 Richmond Road, Corner of Kingland Road (Behind the Haggerston Pub) in London, the films start upstairs at 8.15pm and the live performances will continue on until 3am.

Entry to the event is free with suggested donations before 9, £5 after 9, and £8 after 10.
