On the 11th of December, Newham’s first Latin American Community school (Escuelita Comunitaria) will be celebrating its official inauguration.
Aimed primarily at young people, this educational initiative, set up by the Movimiento Ecuador en el Reino Unido (MERU) in September, aims to strengthen the identity of the Latin American community in this area by offering courses, sharing information and training young Latin Americans.
The Teachers and assistants that work in the school have a lot of experience in the field of education and work on a voluntary basis.
Currently offering classes in subjects including mathematics, Castilian and theatre studies, the school also hopes to offer English classes as well as I.T classes for older people in the near future.
A catwalk show of Latin American fashion, dance and mime shows and the opportunity to try some traditional Latin American food have all been organised for the celebration on the 11th at the Trinity Center, East Avenue. Londres. E12 6SG (nearest station is East Ham).
