This event, a sponsored walk beside the river, will take place on Sunday May 6, and aims to raise money for Colombian children in need.
Children of the Andes, an organisation that for more than 20 years has helped Colombian children who face daily violence and poverty, are responsible for organising this fundraising walk which will cover 10 miles.
The charity, making the most of the bank holiday weekend, are inviting people to come and enjoy the many beautiful views that will be seen during the walk.
All that is asked is for participants to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship, although of course amounts higher than this will be of even more help to the charity.
At the end of the route, which begins in Richmond Park, there will be a picnic in Isabella Plantation and anyone who wishes to can bring musical instruments or anything that will help to create a pleasant atmosphere.
People that may have difficulty walking are also welcome: They need only to contact the organisation and they will be provided with an alternative route.
It will take place on 6 May. If you’re interested in taking part in the walk, you should register by 27 April. Information can be found at http://www.childrenoftheandes.org/.
