Alternative street party

This day-long protest through words and music is to be held on 2 June.


The event will begin at 10am with speakers campaigning for respect and freedom. Speakers include Corinna Lotz and Florence Anderson. The music in the morning will be provided by The Rotherham Red Choir and The Rawmarsh Masher.

The afternoon’s entertainment will come in the form of writers, musicians and poets from all over Yorkshire. In addition, the FOF Theatre Group will perform the comedy sketch Winston Churchilland the Blackman & Company Group will present the short play entitled Professionalism, accompanied by songs from the Rotherham Bard.

Finally, to round off the day, Rock Rotherham will perform from 7.30pm, headlined by Ed Tudor Pole. Tudor Pole formed the band Tempole Tudor in 1974 and is an actor who has appeared in several films.

Perhaps one of his most well-known roles came in the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in which he plays Mr Borgin. These scenes were deleted but appear in the DVD version.

Tudor Pole has also appeared in the second series of Game of Thrones, in which he plays a preacher.

The street party will take place next Saturday 2 June in Rotherham Town Centre.
