Mexican festival comes to England’s capital

This July, Fiesta de Mexico will bring the verve, sights, smells and flavours of Mexico’s rich and diverse culture to the heart of the City of London.

Taking place over 26th – 28th July in Guildhall Yard, the square will recreate one of Mexico’s famous fiestas, complete with authentic food, drink and produce stalls.

From Mariachi bands and Aztec dance performances to traditional artisan workshops and electrifying Lucha Libre shows, the live entertainment at Fiesta de Mexico will be like nothing ever seen before in London.

The organizers of the event say that throughout the weekend “guests can tuck into authentic specialities from some of London’s finest Mexican restaurants and food traders lining the square, serving up a delicious variety of Mexican classics including tacos, tostadas, tamales and quesadillas.

Refreshing agave cocktails such as the special Fiesta de Mexico Margarita will be served at the bars along with a selection of the best mezcals at the Mezcaleria.”

Those wanting to learn more about Mexico’s most famous tipples can take part in the tequila and mezcal workshops & tastings – which are run in association with London’s Tequila and Mezcal Fest

Entertainment will come in the form of traditional Mariachi band performances, live music from some of Europe’s finest Mexican bands, dance shows and a plethora of family friendly activities.

The highlight of the weekend will be the Lucha Libre shows, as no Mexican fiesta would be complete without Mexico’s iconic masked wrestlers, who will be fighting it out on both Friday and Saturday evenings in a thrilling and spectacular battle of good vs evil.

Date and venue: Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July. Guildhall Yard, London EC2V 5AE. More information here.
