Su curiosidad fue satisfecha; la m\u00eda, estimulada.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, los Penan viven en su mayor\u00eda en alojamientos establecidos, pero hay algunos grupos parcialmente n\u00f3madas. Tomas W\u00fcthrich pas\u00f3 seis meses con un grupo en particular, y este es el foco de atenci\u00f3n de <em>\u201cDoomed Paradise\u201d<\/em>, su libro de fotograf\u00edas. Las im\u00e1genes son testimonio de renuencia de los Penan a abandonar su cultura, a pesar de la fragilidad de su existencia en un mundo desolador.<\/p>\n<p>Los Penan fueron un pueblo n\u00f3mada, que habitaba en la selva y cazador-recolector en parte de la gran isla de Borneo compartida entre Kalimantan de Indonesia y Sarawak y Sabah de Malasia.<\/p>\n<p>Ellos se integraron, sin m\u00e1s, en un h\u00e1bitat de \u00e1rboles. En los bosques cazaban jabal\u00edes, ciervos, monos y otros animales. M\u00e9ri Peng and her daughter Yonani in their forest home.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>La medicina proven\u00eda de una variedad de f\u00e1rmacos provenientes de plantas; el jab\u00f3n de cortezas y vides sapon\u00e1ceas; la m\u00fasica de instrumentos de cuerda de bamb\u00fa y del arpa jud\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Viviendo en simbiosis con su entorno, animistas por instinto, observando, pero no midiendo el tiempo seg\u00fan los ciclos lunares y los fen\u00f3menos naturales,- las bandadas de c\u00e1lao anuncian una manada de jabal\u00edes-, los Penan t\u00edmidos y autosuficientes, tan reconocidos como los espartanos por su brevedad en el discurso, est\u00e1n siendo absorbidos por el mundo occidental.<\/p>\n<p>En el mundo gris que habitamos, alimentado por la insatisfacci\u00f3n y la escasez de reposo, tanto se separa de s\u00ed mismo que lo incompleto refleja un vac\u00edo ontol\u00f3gico que solo la fantas\u00eda puede llenar.<\/p>\n<p>Es tentador fetichizar a los Penan. Un objeto de fantas\u00eda, <em>un petit a<\/em> de Lacan, rellena la fisura de nuestro sentido de ser y un constante deseo se une al objeto, porque este representa algo que se siente como perdido.
