Esta es una forma de intentar comprender el relato del viaje de Maskull a un planeta que orbita alrededor de Arcturus y sus experiencias all\u00c3\u00ad.<\/p>\n

Se encuentra con algunos seres peculiares, empezando por Joiwind, una mujer cuya belleza y nobleza no se ven afectadas por el hecho de tener un \u00c3\u00b3rgano extra que sobresale de su frente.<\/p>\n

Ella le presenta dos plantas, el ulfire y el jale, con nuevos colores que \u00c3\u00a9l s\u00c3\u00b3lo puede describir por analog\u00c3\u00ada: \u00abAs\u00c3\u00ad como el azul es delicado y misterioso, el amarillo claro y poco sutil, y el rojo sangu\u00c3\u00adneo y apasionado, el ulfire le pareci\u00c3\u00b3 salvaje y doloroso, y el jale on\u00c3\u00adrico, febril y voluptuoso\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\"\" Maskull tambi\u00c3\u00a9n se fija en una planta, con ra\u00c3\u00adces p\u00c3\u00barpuras que giran como los radios de una rueda sin aro y que impulsan su movimiento.<\/p>\n

Maskull disfruta del estilo de vida vegano de Joiwind, pero cuando m\u00c3\u00a1s tarde se encuentra con otra mujer, Oceaxe, se ve obligado a comer carne, pero \u00abla comida ten\u00c3\u00ada un sabor nauseabundo e incluso can\u00c3\u00adbal\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Oceaxe, que vive en una parte del planeta habitada por insectos homicidas que drenan a los humanos de su sangre, tiene un conjunto de valores muy diferente y tiene un inequ\u00c3\u00advoco inter\u00c3\u00a9s sexual en Maskull.<\/p>\n

Tydomin, otra mujer de mentalidad fuerte -obliga a Oceaxe a suicidarse caminando por un acantilado- tiene una actitud impresionantemente audaz ante la vida: \u00abSiento que lo \u00c3\u00banico por lo que vale la pena vivir es ser tan magn\u00c3\u00a1nimos que el propio destino se asombrar\u00c3\u00a1 de nosotros. Enti\u00c3\u00a9ndame. No es cinismo, ni amargura, ni desesperaci\u00c3\u00b3n, sino hero\u00c3\u00adsmo\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Maskull se asombra, como es l\u00c3\u00b3gico, de las criaturas con las que se cruza, como cuando se encuentra con un monstruo en un arroyo y sufre una visi\u00c3\u00b3n borrosa y luego se encuentra con que puede mirar a trav\u00c3\u00a9s del cuerpo del animal y ver sus venas de sangre. La sangre aparece descompuesta en una mir\u00c3\u00adada de part\u00c3\u00adculas, cada una de ellas como un sol brillante.<\/p>\n

Esto es s\u00c3\u00b3lo el comienzo de su conocimiento de cientos de organismos extra\u00c3\u00b1os que suponen una burla a la taxonom\u00c3\u00ada utilizada en la Tierra para clasificar las formas de vida.<\/p>\n

El desconcierto se extiende a lo que llamar\u00c3\u00adamos vida humana: hay un tercer sexo que requiere un nuevo pronombre, \u00abae\u00bb, porque no puede considerarse simplemente masculino o femenino. Otro personaje entiende la gravitaci\u00c3\u00b3n como el planeta que emana part\u00c3\u00adculas femeninas que las partes masculinas de las rocas y los cuerpos vivos intentan alcanzar continuamente.<\/p>\n

\"\"A medida que la odisea de Maskull contin\u00c3\u00baa, la historia se vuelve cada vez m\u00c3\u00a1s disparatada, como si Lindsay hubiera consumido demasiados hongos m\u00c3\u00a1gicos y le\u00c3\u00addo demasiado a Nietzsche, pero sus excentricidades hacen que la lectura sea compulsiva.<\/p>\n
