El asesinato de cuatro periodistas de Pa\u00edses Bajos el 17 de marzo de 1982, el de los sacerdotes jesuitas el 16 de noviembre de 1989, fueron hechos brutales cometidos por un ej\u00e9rcito entrenado por Estados Unidos. Ocurri\u00f3 en El Salvador. A 41 a\u00f1os, el silencio sigue siendo el principal c\u00f3mplice de la impunidad.<\/em><\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan el presidente Nayib Bukele, dicho ejercito un mill\u00f3n de d\u00f3lares diarios en financiar la guerra contra el pueblo.<\/p>\n

Pero, sin dudas, la Masacre de El Mozote y lugares aleda\u00f1os, como hoy se recuerda, fue la m\u00e1xima expresi\u00f3n de todos los horrores que sufri\u00f3 El Salvador.<\/p>\n

Fueron asesinadas al menos 986 personas, 552 ni\u00f1os y 434 adultos, entre ellos 12 mujeres embarazadas y ancianos. Fue un org\u00eda de sangre que se extendi\u00f3 del 10 al 12 de diciembre de 1981, y a\u00fan el silencio es c\u00f3mplice de la impunidad.<\/p>\n

Bajo la direcci\u00f3n del tristemente c\u00e9lebre coronel Domingo Monterrosa, un pol\u00e9mico militar, los soldados asesinaron ni\u00f1os, violaron mujeres, quemaron cuerpos y cometieron las m\u00e1s grandes atrocidades que recuerda el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, a 42 a\u00f1os de la tragedia, no se abren los expedientes de esos hechos pese a que familiares de las v\u00edctimas no quieren que se hable de reparaciones sino que se haga justicia y el gobierno abra los archivos donde se guarda desde hace a\u00f1os la informaci\u00f3n condenatoria.<\/p>\n

Una sobreviviente de la tragedia, Rosario L\u00f3pez, cuenta que perdi\u00f3 a 24 familiares en un solo d\u00eda y desde un escondite en la monta\u00f1a junto a familiares m\u00e1s cercanos escucho \u201clos gritos y r\u00e1fagas secas de disparos. Un humo denso con olor a carne quemada cubri\u00f3 el cielo en la noche, seg\u00fan recuerda.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuemaron todo, todo. Mataron hasta los cerdos, el ganado, las bestias, no qued\u00f3 nada\u201d, rememor\u00f3 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s mientras espera que se abra paso la justicia.<\/p>\n

\"\"El Mozote, La Joya, Cerro Pando, Jocote Amarillo, Rancher\u00eda y Los Toriles perdieron a la mayor\u00eda de sus pobladores cuando del 10 al 12 de diciembre de 1981, miles de soldados lanzaron la llamada Operaci\u00f3n Rescate contra el naciente movimiento guerrillero del Frente Farabundo Mart\u00ed para la Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional (FMLN).<\/p>\n

Los estimados de los muertos y desaparecidos son variables pero los m\u00e1s cercanos a la verdad indican que fueron cerca de mil, la mayor\u00eda ni\u00f1os, y a\u00fan faltan por identificar muchas v\u00edctimas.<\/p>\n

Muchos cayeron bajo las balas del denominado Batall\u00f3n de Infanter\u00eda de Reacci\u00f3n Inmediata Atlacatl, un comando entrenado en Estados Unidos, que arras\u00f3 con aldeas y pobladores, y que fue entrenado por asesores estadounidenses.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan organizaciones de derechos humanos lo sucedido en 1981 fue parte de una \u201cpol\u00edtica de exterminio\u201d de las fuerzas armadas contra las poblaciones rurales, a las que identificaban como retaguardia de las guerrillas.<\/p>\n

Pese a que el gobierno de Mauricio Funes reconoci\u00f3 la masacre en 2012, aun muchos culpables viven en total impunidad.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n habr\u00eda que buscar a los culpables en Estados Unidos pues la Casa Blanca ocupada por el presidente Ronald Reagan invert\u00eda una suma millonaria en la guerra en pertrechos militares, adiestramiento, alimentaci\u00f3n, colaboraci\u00f3n de asesores o la formaci\u00f3n de los batallones que practicaron el genocidio.<\/p>\n

El entonces subsecretario de Estado para los Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Humanitarios, Elliott Abrams, ignor\u00f3 las denuncias por ser \u00abpropaganda comunista\u201d y ocult\u00f3 la informaci\u00f3n al Congreso. Hoy sigue en la pol\u00edtica. (PL)<\/p>\n
