Este Dios era un Dios que permit\u00eda que las cosas \u00absucedieran\u00bb sin m\u00e1s, si la evoluci\u00f3n era un hecho. As\u00ed, el centro de su acuerdo era la evoluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Matzoo rechazaba a Dios porque cre\u00eda que la evoluci\u00f3n no ten\u00eda sentido. Young rechaz\u00f3 la evoluci\u00f3n, porque tambi\u00e9n era sin sentido. As\u00ed que ambos, parad\u00f3jicamente, estaban de acuerdo en que la evoluci\u00f3n no ten\u00eda sentido.<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo fue posible? Extra\u00f1amente, este acuerdo fue posible porque ambos estaban, a su manera, definidos por sus teolog\u00edas fundamentalistas extremadamente estrechas (\u00a1y esperen!). A Matzoo le habr\u00eda sorprendido esta visi\u00f3n de su teolog\u00eda (o falta de ella). Young estaba acostumbrado a lo que \u00e9l consideraba abuso verbal por parte de los herejes.<\/p>\n

Su interpretaci\u00f3n del G\u00e9nesis y de la predestinaci\u00f3n era la \u00fanica correcta. Matzoo daba por sentado que todos los cristianos cre\u00edan que Dios lo controlaba todo meticulosamente y que, sin ese poder y control, no pod\u00eda ser Dios.<\/p>\n

A Matzoo y a Young casi les da un ataque cerebral cuando Beagle, que hab\u00eda permanecido callado hasta ahora, dijo en voz baja: \u00abPero \u00bfy si ambos est\u00e1is equivocados, por ejemplo si la evoluci\u00f3n es en realidad una parte del amor de Dios, y este amor es, por definici\u00f3n, no coercitivo, como sin duda lo es el amor, si respeta a la otra persona?\u00bb. Young y Matzoo reaccionaron con horror. \u00ab\u00a1La evoluci\u00f3n es descerebrada, aleatoria, sin plan!\u00bb, gritaron ambos. \u00ab\u00bfEs que no lo veis?\u00bb \u00abNinguno de los dos entiende lo que es el amor, ni la naturaleza de Dios\u00bb, replic\u00f3 Beagle. \u00ab\u00a1Tonter\u00edas!\u00bb, gritaron Matzoo y Young a la vez. \u00ab\u00a1Mirad la historia de la violencia en el mundo!\u00bb, grit\u00f3 Matzo. \u00ab\u00a1Y considera que Dios es un Dios de juicio, y que sus juicios son siempre justos!\u00bb respondi\u00f3 Young.<\/p>\n

\u00abLos dos est\u00e1is equivocados\u00bb, replic\u00f3 Beagle. \u00ab\u00a1Sois demasiado estrechos y selectivos en vuestro uso de la Biblia! Lejos de ser insensata, \u00bfno podr\u00eda ser la evoluci\u00f3n una expresi\u00f3n del deseo amoroso de Dios -porque, como dice la Biblia, ‘Dios es amor’, y ‘no puede negarse a s\u00ed mismo’ y ‘el amor no insiste en su propio camino’-, su deseo amoroso de libertad en su creaci\u00f3n -toda ella, tanto la inanimada como la animada?<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00bfNo podr\u00eda ser que la evoluci\u00f3n, lejos de carecer de sentido, sea en realidad un deseo de Dios de respetar su libertad, y la de la creaci\u00f3n, para expresarse y, al hacerlo, ser el medio mismo hacia la novedad, la novedad, la aut\u00e9ntica creatividad?\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Matzoo y Young callaron. Ninguno de los dos era muy humilde y no les resultaba f\u00e1cil ser sinceros consigo mismos.<\/p>\n

\u00bfQuiz\u00e1s ambos deber\u00edan dejar de encerrarse en el pasado? Este hombre, que no busc\u00f3 nombre, dijo simplemente que \u00abVosotros hab\u00e9is dicho… odiad a vuestros enemigos… Pero yo os digo: amad a vuestros enemigos…\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a1Esto es el futuro! No es el pasado. La evoluci\u00f3n es, en efecto, autocreaci\u00f3n, y tiene tanto que ver con el amor altruista, las comunidades y las personas que se ayudan mutuamente, como con la indudable violencia: \u00a1recu\u00e9rdalo!<\/p>\n

El amor forma parte de la autocreaci\u00f3n y de la aut\u00e9ntica novedad del mundo creado, porque se basa en la libertad y no en el materialismo sin sentido o en la meticulosa planificaci\u00f3n de Dios.<\/p>\n

Las personas no est\u00e1n predestinadas por causas y efectos anteriores, como dice Matzoo, ni por el poder absoluto de Dios, como piensa Young. El amor es parte de la evoluci\u00f3n\u00bb.<\/p>\n
