Quiz\u00e1s, la m\u00e1s simple de las medidas emp\u00edricas es la de la longevidad, ya que es aqu\u00ed donde los valores se ejercitan en la poblaci\u00f3n como conjunto. En este caso, la metanarrativa pol\u00edtica y religiosa es de suma importancia, as\u00ed como lo autoestima nacional, y la historia cultural y social. De hecho, es cierto que las metanarrativas, el sistema de valores incuestionable que arquea una cultura,\u00a0 deber\u00edan ser cuestionadas, deconstru\u00eddas y culturalmente relativizadas en una sociedad abierta.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfC\u00f3mo puede esto funcionar en relaci\u00f3n al \u2018car\u00e1cter\u2019 y la \u2018comunidad\u2019? La gente no es ideal. El individualismo, el altruismo y los instintos de supervivencia luchan unos contra otros.
