En la actualidad, a nivel mundial, casi una persona de cada diez padece hambre.<\/p>\n<p>Esta constataci\u00f3n es preocupante: si bien entre 2021 y 2022 se lograron algunos progresos en el continente en cuanto a la reducci\u00f3n del hambre y la inseguridad alimentaria, esos avances est\u00e1n lejos de las metas del Objetivo n\u00famero 2 de Desarrollo Sostenible para 2030: eliminarlo defnitivamente.<\/p>\n<p>Esta es la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/documents\/card\/es\/c\/cc8514es\">conclusi\u00f3n del informe<\/a> <em>Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe \u2013 Panorama Regional de la Seguridad Alimentaria y la Nutrici\u00f3n-2023<\/em> elaborado por varias agencias de las Naciones Unidas: FAO (alimentaci\u00f3n y agricultura), UNICEF (ni\u00f1ez), FIDA (desarrollo agr\u00edcola), OPS\/OMS (salud) y el Programa Mundial de Alimentos, publicado la primera semana de noviembre.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-256016 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/theprisma.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Hambre-pobreza-miseria-Pixabay.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theprisma.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Hambre-pobreza-miseria-Pixabay.jpg 692w, https:\/\/theprisma.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Hambre-pobreza-miseria-Pixabay-285x200.jpg 285w, https:\/\/theprisma.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Hambre-pobreza-miseria-Pixabay-78x55.jpg 78w, https:\/\/theprisma.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Hambre-pobreza-miseria-Pixabay-650x457.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px\" \/><\/strong>La FAO (Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentaci\u00f3n) jug\u00f3 un papel central en la elaboraci\u00f3n de dicho informe y su denominado \u201cindicador de prevalencia de la subalimentaci\u00f3n\u201d (es decir term\u00f3metro del hambre) se deriva de datos nacionales sobre el suministro de alimentos y su consumo, as\u00ed como de las necesidades de energ\u00eda de la poblaci\u00f3n, teni\u00e9ndose en cuenta edad, sexo y niveles de actividad f\u00edsica.<\/p>\n<p>Este indicador se dise\u00f1\u00f3 para identificar un estado cr\u00f3nico de privaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda, es decir, sin consideraci\u00f3n de los efectos ef\u00edmeros de las crisis temporales.<\/p>\n<p>Entre 2021 y 2022 en Sudam\u00e9rica, el n\u00famero de personas con hambre disminuy\u00f3 3.5 millones. Sin embargo, el n\u00famero de subalimentadas aument\u00f3 seis millones con respecto a la cifra pre-pandemia. En 2022, en Am\u00e9rica Central m\u00e1s de nueve millones padecieron hambre. En tanto en el Caribe, siete millones 200 mil sufrieron esa realidad extrema. Fueron 700 mil m\u00e1s que en 2021 y Hait\u00ed registr\u00f3 la incidencia m\u00e1s alta. En efecto, en 2022 el 37% de los habitantes de Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe se vio afectado por dicha condici\u00f3n. En cifras absolutas, 248 millones de personas se vieron obligadas a reducir la calidad o cantidad de sus alimentos (inseguridad alimentaria moderada) y, en el caso m\u00e1s extremo, pasaron varios d\u00edas sin comer, lo que puso en grave riesgo su salud y bienestar (inseguridad alimentaria grave). En 2022 en Sudam\u00e9rica, el 36,4% de su poblaci\u00f3n padeci\u00f3 esta condici\u00f3n. En Mesoam\u00e9rica, el 34,5% y en el Caribe, el 60,6%.<\/p>\n<p>Por otra parte, la inseguridad alimentaria en cualquiera de sus dos expresiones sigue afectando m\u00e1s a las mujeres que a los hombres e incidiendo un 8% m\u00e1s en las zonas rurales que en las \u00e1reas urbanas.
