The cry of ancient and ancestral women

In an international series of cultural events that will take place over the month of March, homage will be paid to ancestral and indigenous women around the world.

Twenty-four countries will participate in it, who have been convened by the Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival 2022.

This is its 12th year, which will take place under the theme of “Origin”.

This year, the festival will have a busy calendar with 31 days of panels, exhibitions, music and poetry recitals, concerts, workshops, conferences, performances, dances, theatre shows and more.

The events will be virtual, semi-virtual and in-person, taking all public health measures into account. This year, and for the next 5 years, the Women Poets International Movement, the festival organiser, and the Woman Scream events, will be part of the initiatives for the UN Women’s Generation Equality Action Coalitions, in the interests of progress towards eradication of violence across the world.

The countries participating in Woman Scream 2022: Origin include: Dominican Republic, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, USA, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru, Cuba, Portugal, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Egypt, Algeria, Australia and Nigeria.

Those responsible for coordinating the events are the male and female artists and cultural managers of various collectives and institutions who, every year, voluntarily join in to extend a message of solidarity in support of the women victims of violence in all its manifestations through art and culture.

Dominican Republic is the main headquarters of this festival which, every year, takes place throughout the month of March in different countries and has around 200 cultural events uniting global voices in homage to women and against violence.
