Steve’s mark

Life puts people on the road without even expecting it, be it at work, on a trip or simply at an event or party. And the experience remains in one’s memory. This is how it is for me, and it is this which will survive Steve’s passing.

In this case, 12 years ago, life placed The Prisma as a meeting point for people from different places and countries with common interests and concerns.

That’s how I met Steve Latham. It was July 2014 in Sydenham, South East London, when I started my internship for the newspaper.

I immediately noticed his calm and steady manner and his warmth and determination when we were talking about a particular subject.

His newspaper columns left no one indifferent, touching on a variety of thought-provoking topics without you even realising it.

I feel that Steve is one of those people who, even if you only have a brief contact with him, leaves a mark and transmits a lot of feeling.

The mark he has left on The Prisma is immeasurable.

And that’s how it has been for some of us at the newspaper.

We have met Steve and, in one way or another, a little piece of him has stayed with us.
