With more than 20 billion streams, 17 number-one singles, and wide recognition as one of Latin music’s leading performers, Juanes — known internationally for songs such as “A Dios le pido”, “Es por ti”, “La camisa negra” and “Me enamora” — arrives in London for a concert that will feature songs from his latest album, “JuanesTeban”.

His new work, released on 6 March, intends to tell the story of who he has become through what he has been. Not only does he showcase his love for traditional music mixed with rock, but he also reveals a hidden facet of his creativity: painting. Each song is accompanied by a separate cover artwork created by the artist himself. In an interview with Agencia EFE earlier this year, he explained: “What drove me to seek sonic diversity, as well as in the lyrics of this album, was essentially to understand who I am, to reaffirm my roots and my musical essence.”

Juan Esteban Aristizábal, known as Juanes, was born in Medellín in August 1972. When he was seven, he started playing the guitar, taught by his father and older siblings. Immersed in a wondrous world of antique houses with wooden balconies and loud popular music drifting from a nearby bar, it was in his father’s village, Carolina del Príncipe, in the Colombian department of Antioquia, that he was first introduced to the traditional rhythms of folk and old vallenato music.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Australia, he said that listening to Carlos Gardel’s records was a family tradition while in his father’s village.

It was in the city that his musical horizons broadened as he listened to the likes of Metallica, Juan Luis Guerra, and Fito Páez.

In the 1990s, these musical inspirations led him to found his own metal band, Ekhymosis, with whom he released several albums. During this time, he studied Industrial Design at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín.

The deep love that binds him to his native Colombia is what makes the date of his London concert all the more significant.

On 20 July, Colombia marks 216 years since the beginning of its War of Independence, sparked by years of oppression and a Spanish merchant’s selfishness over a flower vase. This occasion will be celebrated at the O2 Forum Kentish Town by one of Colombia’s most renowned musical figures of the 21st century, as part of the singer’s World Tour 2026, which includes 50 dates worldwide.

The concert will start at 7:00 PM on Monday, 20 July. For more information contact Baxter PR.
