We’ve reached a critical moment.
With your help, we can move forward stronger than ever.
For almost 17 years, The Prisma has been a pioneering, independent, ethical, bilingual newspaper in the UK, dedicated to immigrants, minorities, and multicultural communities. Published weekly in English and Spanish, and based in London, it has served as a platform for human rights, social justice, and migrant stories too often overlooked by mainstream media.

But The Prisma is more than that: With a monthly readership of up to 350,000, it is a bridge between immigrant communities and British society (and the different communities that exist in the UK), and offers bilingual journalism that informs, connects, and empowers.
We tell stories not only from Latin America and the UK, but also from other migrant communities living across the country.
But now, everything we have built is at stake.
Despite this, and a 100% volunteer team working tirelessly for years, we are at a critical turning point. Rising costs, urgent technical problems, and the lack of external funding threaten our survival.
We have never received salaries in 17 years.
But now, things have changed. Volunteering is no longer what it used to be. It has become harder to rely solely on volunteers, as people face increasing economic pressures and less time to commit. After all this time, it is only fair that our work receives basic financial recognition. We’ve reached the limit of what’s possible without support.
We do not rely on corporate sponsorship or advertising that could compromise our values.
Your donation will directly support:
- Basic salaries for our small team of editors, proofreaders, translators, journalists, web developer and social media volunteers.
- Urgent technical repairs to our website and the restoration of over 10,000 archived articles — a unique digital memory of migration, diversity and multicultural life in the UK, and a valuable storehouse of voices and experiences contributed through the years.
- Ongoing maintenance of our free, bilingual platform and new strategies to reach wider audiences.
Why does this matter?
Every migrant story matters. Every article that challenges prejudice, anti-immigrant feeling, the hostile environment against immigrants, defends rights, celebrates diversity, or builds bridges between host society and diaspora, helps society become more just, more compassionate, more human.
When migrant voices are silenced, we don’t just lose stories. We lose wisdom. We lose resilience. We lose identities. We lose our opportunity to learn from other cultures.
Why support The Prisma?
Because we’ve done the work — ethically, independently, and collectively. In these 15 years we have:
- Published thousands of in-depth interviews, stories, and news about Latin American migrants and other immigrants in the UK
- Worked from journalism alongside NGOs, charities, students, and academics to amplify research and grassroots work
- Covered union struggles, workplace abuse, and immigrant worker rights
- Published various Special Editions — for instance, Muslims in the UK, Latin Americans in London, migrant generations, and Palestine — and much more
- Inspired other media people to create outlets focused on inclusion and diversity
(More details below on what we have achieved)
