The genocide in Palestine continues

Israel resumed its massive attacks on Palestine in March 2025. The brief weeks of truce, beginning on 19 January, were not a genuine pause either, due to sporadic attacks and the continued scarcity of food, which served to prolong the genocide.

The news reports already speak of thousands of people dead due to Israeli attacks on various sites in Gaza. The horror of the bombings has returned. Spokespeople for the resistance have made appeals to mediators, the international community and the United Nations. The humanitarian crisis is brutal: virtually no aid is getting through, over 80% of the population has been and continues to be displaced, the collapse of the health system is real, famine is worsening, and resources for aid — as well as humanitarian workers — are being targeted.

The attacks on the inhabitants of Khan Younis, in the south of Gaza, who are surviving in tents, are continuous and deliberate. Aerial and ground military operations have returned to their worst phase. In Rafah, Israel is determined to destroy what’s left, leaving no stone unturned. And nothing and nobody is stopping them.

A truce with genocide

Let us recall that the Palestinian resistance has been willing to negotiate since the first week after the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, while Israel only accepted the proposal in May 2024 — eight months and thousands of deaths later.

Despite the commitment to a ceasefire, organised in various phases, Israel has chosen to betray its word, as we had previously warned, by obstructing the start of the second phase of negotiations (which was due to begin on 6 February), then stalling the dialogue process, and ultimately unleashing terror. Israel does not seek — nor will it seek — any negotiation that leads to an end to the conflict.

Let us also recall that Israel remains at war on several fronts; despite the truce signed with Hezbollah, it continues to occupy territories in southern Lebanon and has intensified its offensive against southern Syria, occupying areas beyond the Golan Heights.

It is clear that the Palestinian resistance upheld its part of the agreement: it released several Israelis it was holding and carried out no military operations during the truce. The agreement did not fail because of Hamas. Indeed, Hamas released an Israeli-American soldier, but that did not change the equation.

The agreement failed because there are no mechanisms in place to ensure compliance with the signed commitments because the international community is not committed to demanding solutions from Israel, and mainly because Zionism is, by its very nature, treacherous.

These massive attacks constitute a breach of the ceasefire agreement by Israel.

The Zionist ambassador to the UN stated that the attacks would continue until “all hostages are freed”.

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, declared that “the gates of hell will open in Gaza” and that the Palestinian group would be struck with a force “never seen before”. Of course, this decision was coordinated with Israel’s partners in Europe and the United States.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would control “the entire territory of Gaza” as a goal of the new aerial and ground operation, in which Israel has already turned 35% of Gaza’s territory into a “buffer zone”.

Israel and its allies

None of this would have been possible without the presidency of Donald Trump who, like many media outlets, has reduced the agenda of genocide to the supposed “security of Israel” and the release of Israelis held by the resistance — a subject that was precisely meant to be addressed in the new phases of negotiation.

The media silence, driven by Zionism on a global scale, pushes us to forget the tens of thousands of people murdered in Gaza, the scale of destruction of Palestinian homes, the torture in prisons, the amputation of children, the destruction of hospitals, and the indiscriminate bombings.

Israel knows perfectly well that many Arab and Muslim states will go no further than empty declarations; Israel also knows that the so-called international community and the United Nations pose no threat, and that international courts have no teeth.

After 11 weeks of blockade, only nine UN humanitarian aid lorries were able to enter Gaza on Monday, 19 May — out of the 500 lorries that are needed. As the Security Minister, Ben Gvir, had already stated: “We must not give oxygen to our enemies.” Meanwhile, a military doctor, Dr Sabo Amos, claimed that killing Palestinians was a form of “preventive medicine”, like “eliminating cockroaches and other repugnant insects”.

The so-called “international community” at best will issue statements on the consequences of genocide (famine, ethnic cleansing, killings, etc.), but not on the causes. Even if such demands were fulfilled, they would not address the root problem: the Zionist project.

For example, France says it will recognise Palestine, and Spain says it will veto Israel in Eurovision, but France still fails to prevent the genocide, and Spain continues to sell arms to the perpetrators.

But this — and the positions of Canada, France, and the United Kingdom (regarding the blockade of humanitarian aid) — can only be understood as opportunism, since, in essence, the facts remain the same, at least since October 2023.

As in a macabre loop, the lies are repeated, as is the systematic killing of Palestinian children.

The reduction of the occupation to the actions of the resistance remains a constant among “analysts”.

The horror repeats itself, and humanity repeats its indifference.
