Protest in London against US interference in Latin America

At 6 pm this Tuesday, the 28th of October, in a symbolic yet eloquent and collective protest, migrants residing in the United Kingdom will hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the U.S. embassy, a nation that in recent weeks has deployed both military and verbal attacks against Colombia and Venezuela.

The concrete purpose of this expression is the defence of Latin America’s sovereignty and against the warmongering actions of the northern nation in the region.

The protest organisers recall how dozens of Venezuelan and Colombian citizens have been killed by attacks from the US Navy in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

“The inhumane blockade of Cuba, now in its 65th year, continues,” they state, adding: “US politicians are openly calling for a regime change in Venezuela. The genocide of the Palestinians continues, and the preparations to attack Iran are now public knowledge.”

These aggressions have also been widely rejected by the Latin American diaspora in London, and for this reason, they will be outside the US embassy tomorrow. Activists from other parts of the world have joined the action, as the common elements between the attacks on Latin America, the genocide in Gaza, and other wars around the world are clear.

The organisers of this social expression state: “Donald Trump has blown to pieces over 27 Colombian and Venezuelan citizens in international Caribbean waters, while intensifying the brutal economic war against Cuba. The lackeys of the United States in Argentina and elsewhere are aligning themselves to provide cover for Uncle Sam’s crimes. War moves against Iran intensify as the despotic Arab rulers seek to provide an alibi for the coming imperialist slaughter in the Middle East. The ethnic cleansing of Palestine continues as Western imperialism pushes to impose the imperial prerogative to murder, destroy, attack, and invade anyone, anywhere at any time it wants.”

“If you defend the sovereignty of Latin American countries and other victims of the warmongers in the US and European governments, if you want a better world, a world without genocides, without people blown to pieces in small boats in the Caribbean, if you want a better world, then you must come to the demonstration. We have to stop the warmongers,” affirms Yonatan Mosquera, who confirmed he would attend the community gathering.

The proclamation is clear and demands the sovereignty that every country should have: “Stop Trump’s attacks against Colombia and Venezuela! Hands off Latin America!”

Date, time, and location: Tuesday, 28th of October at 6 pm. US Embassy, 33 Nine Elms Lane, London, SW11 7US.
