Rubén Blades, the renowned musician, composer, actor, activist, and politician, is coming to London in July as part of his Fotografías Tour, in which his storytelling combines with the Roberto Delgado Big Band, a 20-piece ensemble.

His show will feature new tunes from his latest album “Fotografías”, like the title track or the song “Emigrantes”, as well as beloved classics like “Pedro Navaja”, “Decisiones”, or “Amor y control”.

The “Fotografías” album recently won the Latin Grammy for Best Salsa Album and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Tropical Music Album.

The Fotografías Tour also features performances in European cities like Zürich, Paris, or Berlin, where venues are reporting less than two per cent of tickets remaining for their booked dates.

His high-energy blend of salsa, jazz, and big-band arrangements defines a musical span that has made him an icon in a 50-year career, with 25 Grammy Awards, including 13 Latin Grammy Awards and 12 Grammy Awards. His innovative introduction of a narrative aspect to salsa tells cinematic stories about real people in Latin American neighbourhoods, as heard in hit songs like “Pedro Navaja” or “Tiburón”, connecting his lyricism to audiences through shared experience and familiar rhythms.

Blades got a master’s in international law from Harvard University in 1985 and ran for the Presidency of Panama in 1994 with his Papa Egoró party that got him 17 per cent of the vote, leading him to finish third in the election. He was later appointed Minister of Tourism by President Martín Torrijos from 2004 to 2009.

Tickets to the show have been on sale since 3 March, but the Roundhouse box office and Ticketmaster are now showing limited availability to attend the concert at Roundhouse, in Primrose Hill, by the Chalk Farm underground station, on the Northern Line.
